Felt compelled to make this post. Overall, a very well done event. I enjoyed myself more than I expected to, which was pretty surprising ^^ Details below.
Location/Ambience: Hilton impresses. Foyer looked classically great (love the modern touches (LCD screen) contrasting with the chandeliers/wood/architecture). Ballroom's lighting was a standout (a challenge for my camera, really, given the lighting changes), too. Food: Entree could have been better (chicken felt too hard IMHO). The mains/dessert, however, were another story. Impressively sized lamb fillet accentuated with a well-designed tomato-based sauce. Interesting berry touches to an interesting take on a chocolate mousse-mud cake. Again, no wonder its $85. Music: Needs improvement. Dancefloor was apparently cramped (as mentioned by others). Ambient music was, for the most part, okay. Dancefloor music, though... "Rock This Party" and "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" (among others), while decent party stormers, were a year too late. Some newer stuff (or even better, some dancefloor storming trance music :P) would have been much more acceptable. It would've REALLY shook the floor. The Night: Excluding the somewhat one-sided "awards" (which didn't concern me), it was awesome. Had fun with everyone. No afterparties (although one of the one's I heard about was, in one word, "interesting"...). Impressive work by the organisers, I'd say. Bring it on, 2009!
Photos: Karl could do 400+. I was "limited by Clement" to ~200+. Total count was 300. Of those, ~1/3 were above average (see Facebook). Not because my D50 wasn't up to scratch - I just wasn't in my "snap-happy" state of mind (except after ~11pm - go figure out why :P). Flash saved me though (even if my camera ended looking like a "scary monster" (quote)). Regardless, I'm still pretty satisfied with my shots (even more impressed by my stock lens compared to my zoom lens). No ____ shots though (by request of that other person) on my D50. Doesn't mean I didn't take one... :P
Facebook for photos - not here. As I said, 2009 will need to match this. Well.
Overall rating: 8.5/10

Done. Now for "other preparations"...
Biology EXAM: ...was as expected. Experimental design? Check (although 5m is a bit too much). Enzymes? Check. Homeostatic mechanism diagram? Check (except VCAA couldn't be stuffed making one up XD). Short of explanation clarity, I SHOULD be fine. Hopefully. Difficulty: 3.5/5 Chemistry EXAM: ...was mass grinding. A bit rushed, but blame the excessive calculations (and crazy dilution factors). And what's with that UV-vis. question? Otherwise, should be generally okay. Difficulty: 4/5 Physics: ...was more motion. And graphing. And question grinding. Which is what will continue to happen throughout this/next term. Great. English Language: ...was cancelled. Someone forgot that p6 =/= p5.
Time to make a bounce card. Soon.

No blog entries for the whole week?? Madness. Blame VCAA.
*due to a lot that has been happening for the whole week, this would be a quick summary only* English Language: Raw non-std. marks. Alright. Unit 4. Spoken language. Intensive summarising. General Maths: Trigonometry. Sine rule. Methods redux. Biology: Medicines. Sleepy. Scraped an A for Unit 3 SACs. Practice exams. Tests. Thursday illness. Chemistry: Questions grinding. Practice exam. Scraped A+. Stupid, stupid errors. "Alien invasion" (joking). Physics: Exam mark considered fine. Sickness. Sickness. Sickness. Straight-line motion. 8 white Macbooks. Motion sensors. 5+ coffees = high. Chemistry Tuition: Questions grinding. Completed from last lesson. Sunday lesson. Spare: Chemistry. Formal partners (speaking of which...). Party-goers. Fun with erasers.
Ignoring "not-so-revelations" and "plain ignorance" for the moment. Will worry about them after Thursday's come and gone.
No anime either. Code Geass didn't air last week. And Static-Subs is being a bit late on Kyouran, too.
I'm unlikely to make any blog post during the next week (i.e. before Thursday) due to the following: - Queen's Birthday - Extremely intensive revision/practice exams. - Biol. exam (which I'll probably wing it) and Chem. exam (which is high-priority).
Flying off to nerd-land soon. GL to all exam-goers next week.

2 weeks left. Time to ramp up those trial exams and questions. Maybe a Biol/Chem alternation?
English Language: (Thurs.) ...was Unit 3 Outcome 2 (3rd SAC). Topic 4 wasn't too hard (could've chosen Topic 3 though), although given I was the only person AFAIK (out of BOTH classes) who attempted that topic...I'm starting to worry a bit. Might've ranted too much though. Difficulty: 3.5/5 Gen. Maths: ...was "post-examination" day. 1 mark from T.K.O. Oh well - that question wasn't exactly worded properly and hence...cheap. XD Regardless I'm happy with it. Biology: (Thurs.) ...was "go through questions" day. *yawn* Spent some time biologically arguing about specificity (of cytokines). Next! (Fri.) ...was Outcome 4. Which wasn't TOO bad, except for some cheap definition questions. And why no cell-mediated immunity? Oh well, I stuffed my chances with Biol Unit 3, so don't really care anyway. Difficulty: 3/5 Chemistry: (Wed.) ...was Mass Spec. Stuff that should've been covered AGES ago. Oh well - serves as good revision and a brush up. (Thurs.) ...was some IR/NMR/MS/Emp Form. revision. Good. If this is the style presented in examinations, I'm alright with it. (Fri.) ...was "do w/e you want" day. I need more than 5 trial exams though. Maybe...8 or 9? XD Physics: ...was NOT starting Unit 2. Nor was it getting exam marks back. It was finishing off that nuclear video. With some non-PC language bits too...
Year 11 formal tonight, apparently. Meh. My D50's got bigger, significantly (personal and extra-personal) more important fish to fry.

120 marks? Cruelty and insanity at the same time, I'll say. Oh well, now that that's over, I can now focus on bigger fish...
English Language: ...was doing some textbook stuff (revision) related to SAC 3 (on Thurs.). Decent material to practice on, but...it's not a "3 quotes + topic" essay. Which is what I'm fearing. Biology: (Mon.) ...was going over Chapter 8 questions. I'm starting to not like Biol. now (as if I didn't already). Time to turn the dials up on Chem/Lang... (Tues.) ...was "do-as-much-SRAM-as-you-can-in-2-periods" day. Didn't actually do too much (spent most of time on cell organelles/immunity), but at least I'm through. SAC 4 doesn't look too welcoming, though. Chemistry: (Mon.) ...was Gravimetric revision. Questions stolen straight from C'points, though, which meant it was *generally* fine. Chemistry Tuition: ...was getting more serious. Seriously. Spammed through the questions, though - some ripped out of Sample Exam 1 2008. Stupid glutamine... Physics EXAM: ...was 120 marks full of absurdity. Actually, to me it was decent (except those rather unclear colour questions). Talk about length. Surprising how the exam features three teachers (embedded in questions) except one. I wonder who wrote the exam then...*coughpurplescreencough* XD.
